Municipalities/Cities/Towns
A fiber-based infrastructure can augment entrepreneurial competition, and can enhance civic revenues by attracting and retaining vital businesses to a community. Optical broadband networks are also an excellent “quality of life” benefit for residents and a draw for newcomers. Building an ultra-broadband community infrastructure is about delivering a scalable network foundation that can handle current or future access services. Many OFS FTTx deployments to date are by utilities owned and operated by a municipal government, or a municipal-type governing board. These networks improve communication services for all residents and can scale with residential and business growth needs without the disruption of tearing up streets to modernize an infrastructure.
