  • Faster, easier installation: no extra steps to install bend limiters, conduits, or raceways
  • Compact installation and storage: Conforms to building; slack fits in small storage spaces
  • Fast, easy, low loss splicing to G.652D fiber with existing core and clad aligned splice equipment
  • Familiar, standard connector termination: Solid fiber construction can be terminated using standard optical connectors and polishing techniques
  • Familiar connector endface cleaning using same process as with existing G.652 solid construction fiber
  • MDU and in-home optimized: Ideal for in-residence wiring and difficult installation routes in MDU overbuilds
  • Greener Solution: Free of heavy metals and RoHS-compliant; solution uses less total materials and energy than copper solutions

1Maximum span range from 400 feet to 1,150 feet, depending on loading conditions, fiber counts, installation conditions and clearance requirements. Contact OFS for specific details for your application.
2Based on field studies examining the time required to prepare cable ends for splicing and terminations for similar gel-filled ADSS cables as compared with PowerGuide ShortSpan DT Cable.
3For a typical 250-foot cable run, under NESC Medium Loading Conditions, the gel-free cable construction allows for the use of light duty attachment hardware, which costs on average 40% less per pole. Lighter duty and less costly attachment hardware may be used due to lower loading tensions made possible by the lighter weight, gel-free cable design.

  • Deploying fiber only as needed helps to defer initial build costs and allows flexibility for future network upgrades with newer fibre types/technologies
  • High fiber density ratio helps increase capacity in limited spaces
  • Reduced diameter, lightweight cable designs for easier handling and installation
  • Excellent solutions for new and existing duct systems
  • Fiber counts of 12 to 432 (MiDia FX Microcable)

  • Meets IEC 60794-1-2 and 60794-5 for reliable performance
  • Available with OFS leading-edge optical fibers including AllWave® FLEX ZWP Single-Mode Fibre and AllWave® ZWP Single-Mode Fiber (Note: MiDia FX Microcables with 432 fibers are available only with AllWave FLEX ZWP Fiber)

Design:
With the MiDia GX Dry Core Cable design, the optical fibers are placed in space-efficient, gel-filled buffer tubes to help protect the fibres from environmental and mechanical forces. Both the optical fibers and buffer tubes are color-coded for easy identification. The buffer tubes are then stranded around a dielectric central member using the reverse oscillating lay (ROL) stranding technique. Unlike other techniques, ROL makes it easy to gain fast, mid-span fiber access. In the next step, dry waterblocking material is applied to the cable core to provide exceptional water-blocking performance and faster cable preparation. Finally, a ripcord and a durable PE jacket are added to complete the cable construction.
